It has been a while that the death of a person attracted so much emotion among Nigerians.
Even people who didn’t know her were forced to gather information about the woman whom everyone was talking about – the late wife of the Senior Pastor of Trinity House Church, Ituah Ighodalo.
At an evening of hymns earlier in the week, gospel singer Tope Alabi brought friends and family members to tears.
In her special number, in Yoruba language, she sang: “Praise to God for letting Ibidunni’s dream come to reality. We praise you because you are God. You are God, you are not human. We should just see who will give birth to Ibidunni.”
Alabi also created another song for her late friend. Some of the lines are: “We didn’t want you to leave. You were a strong pillar for many people. I wish I could invite you for a sumptuous meal. A legend is gone, tears are flowing. We never thought we would sing a dirge soon.”
Preparing to mark her 40th birthday next month, Ibidunni dedicated her life to putting smiles on the faces of people struggling to have kids.
Through the Ibidunni Ighodalo Foundation, she provided grants for women to pay for IVF treatments and helped to reduce the stigma around IVF in Nigeria. She was also opened up about her own struggles to conceive, revealing that she underwent eleven IVF procedures.
