Italian Serie A outfit Napoli, has revealed the reason Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has not put pen to paper to join the side yet.
According to reports, the former Wolfsburg player, who was named the club’s player of the year and voted the Best African Player in Ligue 1, was in Italy last week to meet with the President of the Naples based side, Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The team head coach, Gennaro Gattuso explained that the former Sporting Charleroi striker can not be force to join the club although his present will make a different for the team in Serie A next season.
“He’s different, but I don’t want to talk about that. If and when Osimhen joins, then I’ll explain the changes,” Gattuso said.
Speaking further, Gattuso said Napoli want to replace the team striker, Arkadiusz Milik who Gattuso said “wants a change of scenery.”
The Polish international, who has refuse to sign a new contract with Napoli is link to Serie A champions Juventus, LaLiga outfit Atletico Madrid and Premier League side Tottenham among others.
“It’s difficult to find someone better than Milik.
“However, when a player believes his time at a club is over and he wants a change of scenery, you have to listen to him.
“You can’t try to keep someone against their will, or it’s difficult to get them to listen or have the right mentality. You have to respect the wishes of the player,” Gattuso added.
The 21-year-old scored 18 goals and providing six assists in 38 games across all competitions for Lille last season.
