
The Governing Council Chairman, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, Prof. Matthew Odedokun has promised to reposition the College in line with the vision of the state’s Governor Seyi Makinde.
According to a release by the Special Assistant on Media Matters to the Provost, Mr. Wale Adeoye, the new Council Chairman, Prof. Matthew Odedokun in his opening remarks at the inaugural meeting of the Governing Council held on Tuesday urged members of the Council to adapt the saying of a former American President, John F. Kennedy by not asking for what America (the College) will do for you but what you can do for America (the College).
According to him, “I am happy for the composition of members of the Council. It cuts across all sectors and undoubtedly, this shall be helpful to us in formulating useful policies for the College”.
Speaking further, the Oyo-born renowned Development Economist stated that “the challenges ahead of us are herculean but I am happy that we are up to the task”.
While appreciating the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, FNSE for his vision towards repositioning the education sector of the Pace-Setting State, the Chairman called on the College Management Team, Staff, Students and members of the College Community to join hands with the new Governing Council in taking the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo to greater heights.
In his brief, the College Provost, Dr. Rasak A. Adefabi, FIEN, FCAI, J.P appreciated the new Council Members for accepting to serve the State.
According to the College helmsman, “the repositioning mantra of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, FNSE would certainly materialize with the caliber of visionary members of Council”.
The Provost further stated, “I wish to therefore on behalf of the College Management, Staff, Students and the entire College Community pledge our unalloyed support to the new Governing Council under the able leadership of our amiable don, Prof. Matthew Odedokun towards raising the bar of academic excellence which the College is known for”.
