Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State has promised to create a Local Council Development Area (LCDA) for Oke-Igbo Community within one year in office if re-elected at October 10, gubernatorial election in the state.
Already, the governor had set up 11 man-committee to look into the proposal and to make recommendations on the number and nature of the LCDAs to be created.
Akeredolu, who is the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), gave the assurance during a visit to the traditional ruler of the ancient community, the Oluoke of Oke-Igbo, Oba Oluwole Babajide and his chiefs.
He was accompanied to the meeting by his running mate, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa and other leaders of the party.
Akeredolu affirmed his commitment to the creation of LCDAs, saying Oke-Igbo that is merged with Ile-Oluji as a local government deserves a local council.
Akeredolu, however, assured the people that his administration would complete all the ongoing developmental projects in the Oke-Igbo community.
In his welcome address, Oba Babajide said the people would remain grateful to the administration of Akeredolu on the ongoing road rehabilitation and water projects that was abandoned by the previous administrations in his kingdom.
The monarch also said every son and daughter of Yoruba land must commend Akeredolu on his doggedness over the actualization of Amotekun security network.
“Mr Governor, despite the COVID 19 pandemic, our people still troop out en masse to welcome. This is a sign of our love for you.
“Through your effort, we are grateful that our Igbo Olodumare has become an International Tourists Community”
The traditional ruler who sued for peace, urged politicians to play the game according to the rules.
