Nigeria international and midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has set a new record in the English Premier League after he made 19 ball recoveries during Leicester City’s 3-1 win over champions Liverpool on Saturday.
The Nigerian, who was named the Man of the Match as the Foxes came back from a goal down to overcome the Reds, surpassed his 18 ball recoveries feat of last December against Tottenham Hotspur.
It was Leicester’s 14th Premier League win of the season – which elevated them to second in the table.
“By making 19 ball recoveries against Liverpool, Ndidi set a new record for this Premier League season, but the record he was breaking was his own, having made 18 ball recoveries in the win at Spurs in December,” Leicester Mercury wrote.
Ndidi, who made his 17th EPL appearance against the visitors, was outstanding, and completely shut down Thiago Alcantara.
He also had a hand in Harvey Barnes’ goal in the 85th minute.
