Former Governor of Osun State and President, Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has revealed how he developed keen interest in the game of golf.

He said “I started playing golf game in 1988, I never thought the game was worthwhile until I became the directing staff at the Command and Staff College, Zaria. I discovered I had a lot of time in my hand and out of curiosity I decided to try golf and I have been hooked to it since then”.

The former Governor stated this recently in an exclusive interview made available to PMParrot adding that the game of golf has been promoted to a very high level abroad.

Speaking on the synergy between the military and golf, he said “As a military man, you need to keep fit, being physically fit is a prerequisite to being a good military officer”.

He, however, urged the Nigerian government and corporate sponsors to make driving ranges available and invest in the game of golf in order to discover more potentials who will do the nation proud.

The former governor was, however, optimistic about the future of Ibadan Golf Club, stating that the club is not relenting in its efforts to meet up with the standard of Ikoyi and IBB golf club in the nearest future.

Ibadan Golf Club recently celebrated its 30th Anniversary.
