The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council has rolled its program of activities towards the celebration of its 2021 Press Week.
A lecture with the theme ‘Maintaining Good Journalism Amidst Insecurity and Economic Challenges’ will be delivered by the Ekiti APC gubernatorial aspirant, Otunba Demola Popoola in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
A statement made available to PMParrot by the Secretary of the Ekiti council of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi charged members of the union to ensure a wide publicity for the week long events expected to take place from 8th to 14th November, 2021 in the state.
According to the Ekiti NUJ Scribe, “The week long activities will commence on Monday, 8th of November, 2021 with opening ceremony and media dialogue at the NUJ Press Centre to be followed by a public lecture set to be delivered by the APC governorship aspirant in the state, Otunba Demola Popoola at the IIJ Hall, Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, 9th November, 2021”.
Speaking further, he revealed that the association will conduct free eye screening and health talk to be moderated by the National Optometric Association at the NUJ Press Centre in Ado Ekiti. On Wednesday, 10th of November with an award and dinner on Thursday at the ABE Emporium Hotel in Ado Ekiti by 5pm.
The Jumat and Thanksgiving Service will take place on Friday 12th and 14th November, 2021 at the Aromokeye Mosque and the Methodist Church Nigeria, Ado Ekiti respectively.
Expected at the event is the Governor of the state, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi and while the host is the Ekiti State NUJ Chairman, Lion Rotimi Ojomoyela.
Personalities to be honoured with awards at the event include the Gbobaniyi of Efon Kingdom, Chief Olatunde Ashaolu, Yera Moses Olafare, the Chief Press Secretary to the Ooni of Ife, the Iyalaje Oodua Worldwide, Dr. Mrs. Toyin Kolade, the SSG to Ekiti State Government, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi.
Other awardees include Mr. Adepoju Ajayi Jasper, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin (rtd.), and Hon. Morakinyo Adebayo, a former member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
