Counsel to the family of the late Masters student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Timothy Adegoke Oludare on Monday demanded a probe into the audio message by owner of Hilton Honours Hotel, Chief Ramon Adedoyin where he claimed innocence of in the killing of deceased.

The counsel also asked Adedoyin and his family to stop what they called emotional appeal and let all the suspects await their days in court.

Naim Adekilekun, from Wemimo, Adekilekun & Co, while speaking at the premises of the Osun State University Teaching Hospital Osogbo, also called on the police to exhibit openness and truth in their investigations.

The lawyers were part of the family delegation that came to the teaching hospital where pathologists commenced autopsy on the remains of Oludare on Monday.

NPO Reports reliably gathered that the report would be released some days to come.

Speaking with journalists, Adekilekun said the family of the deceased have been taken aback by the series of media statements credited to both the chairman of the hotel who is also the founder of Oduduwa University which they alleged are capable of misinforming the public.

Listing three major demands from the police, Adekilekun said, “An immediate inquiry into the circumstances that led to the production of an audio that is in circulation where the chairman of the hotel, Mr. Ramon Adedoyin recorded an appeal to members of the public pleading his innocence.

“A clearer statement on what prompted the Police Public Relation of Osun, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, to hastily tell members of the public that there was nothing to show any form of mutilation in the body of the deceased when exhumed from the shall grave. This is contrary to what witnesses who were at the site of the exhumation claim.

“The Police need to clear the air on the reported preferential and VIP treatments being accorded the owner of the hotel, Chief Ramon Adedoyin. This is already in the public domain and for the sake of fairness and an assurance of justice, the police need to speak up on this.

While expressing appreciation of the family for the massive interests Nigerians have shown with the strident calls for justice, Adekilekun said “We have also watched with dismay, the various attempts to confuse members of the public with endless statements bordering on the ‘innocence’ of the Chairman and founder of the hotel, Ramon Adedoyin.”

The lawyer said the family would rather prefer that all the suspects await their days in court to prove their innocence instead of the resort to the use of the media to appeal to sentiments.

He also called on the police to use the case of Oludare to restore the confidence of Nigerians in its ability to resolve crimes.

He said, “We wish to call on the police to use this case as another litmus in its bid to restore the confidence of Nigerians in its ability to unravel crimes, no matter how the perpetrators think they have covered their tracks.”
