Civil Servants Urged To Join Cooperative Societies

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC, Ekiti State, Dr. Tella Adeniran Rahmon has described Cooperative Societies as the bedrock in solving financial problems confronting Nigerian Civil Servants and prepare them for a better life after their active service.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Director of Electoral Operations of the Commission in Ekiti State, Mr. Alani Oduntan, made this known during INEC Staff Cooperative Multipurpose Society Limited: “12th Annual General Meeting with Report of Final Accounts for the Financial Year” at the INEC State Office Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, said “that the situation in the country occasioned by global pandemic among other challenges calls for a society that cares for the needs of the people”.

Dr. Tella educated members of the Cooperative Societies to get themselves familiar with how promotion of the Commission (INEC), was being done from cadre to cadre. He charged them to further their education and take interest in acquiring professional courses like ICAN among others.

He said that Cooperative Societies have been in existence for years with various achievements by members. According to him, Cooperative Societies have helped the society in many ways hence the need for members of the public to enroll themselves to ease their financial problems in the country.

Earlier in his welcome address, the President of the Association, Mr. Oke Samuel Kehinde appreciated all the members and the support of other Executive Committee members for supporting him to achieve success during their tenure. According to him, people should make efforts towards saving for raining days and live better life after service.

He said that he enjoyed good time with all members, describing the experience as worthwhile.

On the Election Day of the new Executive and Dissolution of old Executives, out of eight positions, six were returned unopposed while election for two vacant seats, such as Financial Secretary and the President was conducted and won by the following people- Mrs. Onasanya Opeyemi was elected as the President while Mr. Agboola Oluwagbenga was elected as the Secretary.

In her speech, the newly elected President, Mrs. Onasanya Opeyemi described the victory as an Act of God, calling on all other contestants to support the new Executives to move the society forward.
