A Non-governmental organization, Ekiti Freedom Movement, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to reopen its online portal to enable more eligible residents of the state to register to vote.
Alhaji Tope Sikiru, the state coordinator of the movement stated this during a solidarity walk to INEC Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti.
He stated that the group is aware of the deadline, which was 14th March, 2022 but urged the electoral body to reconsider people who came from other states of the federation to register in Ekiti State.
He said, “Our walk is to plead with INEC to reopen its portal for registration for people. We realized that most people have registered online as directed by INEC but unfortunately, the date assigned for them to do the capturing elapsed within the period INEC closed the portal.
