The Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Ekiti State council has urged the state’s Governor Kayode Fayemi to redeem his promise of building a befitting secretariat for the union.

The union further lamented the casualization of professional journalists by some media houses, while appealing to the state government and the federal government to give due consideration to the various contract staff in BSES, NTA and Progress FM for permanent employment.

The NUJ council stated this in a statement during the week at the end of its March congress in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

The council again pleaded with Governor Kayode Fayemi to redeem the promise he made during the fund raising for the building of a befitting secretariat for the union.

It further commended the state government on the promotion exercise for civil servants in the state, while urging the government to facilitate the immediate payment of all outstanding arrears to all workers.

The union further appealed to the government to empower Amotekun Corps in providing more logistics in order for them to fight against insecurity, urging the Fayemi-led government to repair the bad portions of roads in the state.
