Dr Mike Adenuga...the man behind Globacom...

The Chairman, Mike Adenuga Group, Dr. Michael Adenuga, during the week added the National Productivity Order of Merit Award to his long list of awards.

President Muhammadu Buhari who conferred the award on the Globacom Chairman disclosed that it was in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of Nigeria.

Adenuga was in 2012 honoured with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) by the Federal Government; and was one of the 50 eminent Nigerians who received the Special Golden Jubilee Independence Anniversary Awards during the nation’s Golden Jubilee in the year 2010.

President Buhari acknowledged that Adenuga’s business acumen and commitment as a major employer of labour and major driver of productivity in Nigeria earned him the latest award.

The accomplished entrepreneur who owns a business conglomerate spanning key sectors of the economy including oil and gas, telecommunications, construction, banking, real estate, and aviation received the National Productivity Award in the ‘Employers of Labour’ category.

His companies boast thousands of employees from Nigeria, other parts of Africa, Asia, and other parts of the world.

The Mike Adenuga Group, MAG, is also an indirect employer of millions from all walks of life in Nigeria and beyond. He is one of the largest shareholders in Nigeria’s leading commercial bank, First Bank of Nigeria Plc., and construction giant, Julius Berger Plc.

The Chairman of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia; Abdulsamad Rabiu of BUA Group; and Chinedum Anthony Okereke, an industrialist also received the national awards while other awardees included those who played vital roles in the prompt containment of the  Ebola virus and fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Late Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh received the posthumous fight against Covid-19 award.
