The Department of State Services (DSS) has called for concerted effort by all in fighting against crime in Oyo State.

Emmanuel Okoye, the Director, (DSS) made this clarion call during a courtesy visit to the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Agodi, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State on Thursday.

He said, “Security agencies in the state should jointly tackle insecurity in the state as the security of lives and properties is a collective responsibility”.

The Director further stressed that sharing security information among the security agencies can minimize criminal activities in the state stressing that the cordial relationship between the two agencies must be improved in order to reduce inter-agency rivalry.

Reacting, the Oyo State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Adaralewa Micheal revealed that collaboration between the two agencies is a welcome development stating that the Corps is making efforts in ensuring the security of lives and properties through intelligence gathering.

The two security chiefs further charged the people of the state and all stakeholders involved in the security architecture to give credible information needed to curb criminal activities.

Commandant Adaralewa, however, emphasized that information gathering is a major tool in curbing crime nationwide.
