Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye has received in audience the zonal officials of National Emergency Management Agency in her office, Ado-Ekiti.
The officials were led by the Head of Zonal Head of operations, Ondo and Ekiti, Mr Kadiri Olanrewaju and other top officials of NEMA.
The Deputy Governor who expressed satisfaction on the performance of NEMA / SEMA in Ekiti state, urged them to be more proactive.
She appreciated NEMA for coming to the aid of flood victims in Ekiti and promised to carry the Governor along on the list of beneficiaries of items received from the federal government.
Chief Afuye described the courtesy visit as a beginning of good things and assured the total support of the present administration to NEMA.
She urged the Agency to sustain the cordial relationship, adding that the items would be distributed without any preferential treatment.
The Deputy Governor however called on the people to be more conscious of their environment and always prevent factors that could make them vulnerable to any form of disaster in the state.
Earlier, the Head of Operations, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA in charge of Ekiti and Ondo States, Mr Kadiri Olarewaju who said that his team was in the Deputy Governor’s office to solicit more support from the state government, said all the relief materials earmarked by the federal government for the victims of natural disasters in Ekiti State had arrived.
Mr Olarewaju said Out of over three thousand victims captured in Ekiti, only one thousand would get relief materials in the first phase while the remaining victims would be captured in the second batch.
The Permanent Secretary office of the Deputy Governor, Mr Abayomi Opeyemi who was also in attendance appreciated the delegation of NEMA/SEMA on behalf of Ekiti state government for counting Ekiti worthy of benefiting from the federal government gesture to provide relief materials for the victims of natural disasters.
