The management of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, has commiserated with the government of Oyo State, management and staff of Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS, over the fire incident that gutted part of the radio and television stations on Wednesday.
A statement signed by the Registrar of the university, Dr Jadesola Babatola, said the Vice Chancellor, Prof Timothy Adebayo, expressed sadness at the loss caused by the inferno, while acknowledging the financial burden that the fire incident would place on the state government, which owns the broadcasting outfit.
The statement read, “The management and staff of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo received with shock and the highest sense of empathy the news of the fire incident that gutted part of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State.
“While expressing his sympathy with BCOS Executive Chairman, Prince Dotun Oyelade, ACU Vice Chancellor, Prof Timothy Adebayo, acknowledges the huge contributions of the state-owned radio and television stations in educating enlightening, entertaining and disseminating information to people of the state and beyond.
“We also commiserate with the state government for the significant loss to the station. This is no doubt a setback to dissemination of information to the people of the state while the stations were off the radar but we are delighted that BCOS has bounced back quickly to continue rendering its priceless services to the people of Oyo State.”
The university also called on the people of the state to support the media outfit at this time of difficulty.
