Hon. Olayinka Ayobami Omikunle, member representing Ibadan South East Constituency 2 in the Oyo State House of Assembly has empowered over 200 widows with cash gift of not less than 50,000 naira each to support their businesses.
He further stated that the empowerment program was organized to mark his 100 days in office and to appreciate the people of his constituency for supporting him with their votes during the last election while promising never to disappoint them.
Omikunle stated this during an empowerment program he hosted at the Genesis Hotels and Suites Challenge, Ibadan, the capital city of the state on Wednesday.
Speaking, the Commissioner for Women affairs and Social inclusion in Oyo State, Hon (Mrs) Toyin Balogun expressed her happiness towards the Hon. Omikunle empowerment program and for making women his priority while urging the people of the state to key into the development agenda of the Engr. Seyi Makinde-led administration for women in the state.
While making her own submissions, Hon. (Mrs.) Comforter Olajide, member representing Ibadan North 1, lauded the efforts of Hon. Omikunle for providing dividends of democracy to widows in his constituency while encouraging all the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for their businesses.

Also at the event, a former chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige charged all women in politics never to relent in their efforts, stating that there is dignity in hard work while affirming that Governor Makinde‘s second tenure will bring more smiles on the faces of the residents of the state.
He further appreciated the efforts of Hon. Omikunle for not reneging on his campaign promises while appreciating the wife, Mrs Bolaji Omikunle for standing firm during the electioneering campaign that eventually led to her husband’s emergence as a state legislator.
Reacting, Mrs Bolaji Omikunle, appreciated the beneficiaries of the initiative while affirming that the husband will not disappoint the people of his constituency. She equally urged them to make wise use of the token.
While responding, the beneficiaries appreciated the efforts of Hon. Omikunle affirming that he has been a pillar of support to them. They vowed to always pray for him to succeed as a legislator.
