AC Milan coach, Stefano Pioli, has revealed that he is pleased with the performance of Super Eagles’ star, Samuel Chukwueze but was quick to add that the Nigerian must adapt and refine his game.
Chukweze has made five appearances (one start and four substitute appearances) since arriving from Villarreal in the summer due to Pioli’s preference of Christian Pulisic on the right flank.
The Nigerian made his first start for the Rossoneri in their goalless draw against Newcastle last Wednesday and failed to make an assist nor score in 61 minutes before he was replaced.
However, Pioli believes that the Super Eagles star must be more direct and timely in his play to be more better.
“I want Samu to be very open; he is used to cutting inside the pitch,” Pioli said.
“He also needs to find the timing and movements, but he did well. I’m satisfied with his performance, and he will grow.
“The idea in Newcastle’s first half was to target a full-back with another pass. In the first half, we didn’t make much use of him, and then I put Pulisic on. But we’re satisfied with his (Chukwueze’s) performance.”
