The family left behind by one time governor of Oyo State, Alhaji (Dr) Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina has described the demise of Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadanland as a huge loss the people of the sprawling city and indeed, Nigeria.
In a special statement signed and sent to PMParrot by the scion of the late politician, Dr Ayobami Wasiu Lam-Adesina, the late monarch was described as “easily the Nigerian monarch with the most intimidating credentials”.
The statement stated further “Oba Lekan Balogun was a monarch that will be greatly missed. In addition to being a politician that was known nationally, he was a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In addition, he is a renowned scholar who got his PhD earlier in life.”
Lam-Adesina then went ahead to express condolences to members of the monarch’s immediate family, the state’s government, the State Council of Obas and Chiefs, his political friends, associates, the people of Ibadanland and Nigeria.
The family prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Oba Balogun aljanah firdaus.
