The Oluwo Afobaje of Ibadanland, Chief Wahab Mosadogun has revealed that all the Ibadan High Chiefs that got crowned never performed the statutory traditional rites.

He made this revelation while featuring on a Fresh 105.9fm live show anchored by Abolade Salami and broadcast from Ibadan on Sunday morning.

Chief Mosadogun, during the popular Radio Show monitored by PMParrot said the ‘Obas’ were never given any staff of office.

His words “all we did for them was just to pray for them (iwure). There was no traditional ‘etutu’ performed on their behalf, they did not open the traditional ‘calabash’ too and they were not taken to the Ose Meji. We all know that all these rites are reserved only for the new Olubadan.”

The Oluwo, who is the man that must preside over the installation of the new Olubadan also used the opportunity to appeal to all stakeholders to rally round and ensure that the installation of the new Olubadan is not delayed for any reason.

“Since the Asiwaju of Ibadanland, Chief Bode Amoo has also agreed to mediate, I am sure an amicable solution will be found to the logjam.”
