Read what the son and heir, Sir (Arc) Muyiwa Ige, earlier wrote on his social media handles:
“21 years and still evergreen in our hearts!!! Hon. Justice Atinuke Omobonike Ige, JCA rtd., OFR, (nee Oloko) and wife of Chief Bola Ige, SAN, transited to the great beyond 21years ago today. From the illustrious Oloko family of Ibadan and noble Okeowo family of Ijebu-Ode, she was the first female lawyer from Ibadan.
“She was called to the English Bar and Nigerian Bar in 1959. She was to later become the first First Lady of Old Oyo State (1979-83) who kept working on the bench while her husband held sway as the 1st Executive Governor of the State.
“On the 1st of June, 1977, she was appointed Judge, after many years in the magistracy and having been Chief Registrar. She was Acting Chief Judge of the State just before her elevation to the Court of Appeal in September 1993.
“She retired as Presiding Judge of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, having served in Benin and Kaduna prior. She died on 10th April, 2003, 16 months after her husband’s assassination.
“May God continue to grant her gentle soul sweet repose…”
