Oyebanji Inaugurates Ekiti State Trade Grievance Redress Mechanism Committee

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has a inaugurated the State Trade Grievance Redress Mechanism(TGRM) Committee with a pledge that his administration would spare no efforts towards putting in place a conducive business climate for Industrialists, Entrepreneurs as well as all residents of the State to carry out their respective activities without fear of intimidation and limitation.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 8-member State Trade Grievance Redress Mechanism committee in Ado-Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Habibat Adubiaro stated that the inauguration of the GRM committee represents a crucial step towards fostering a business-friendly environment, where all trade-related grievances are addressed timely, efficiently, fairly, and transparently.

Noting that trade is the backbone of the state’s economic progress that fuels development, create jobs, and enhance the quality of life of the people of the State, the Governor stressed that his administration also recognizes that a thriving trade environment depends on the ability to ensure fairness, resolve conflicts with little or no stress, and provide support for traders and business owners alike.

Oyebanji stressed that he purpose of the Trade Grievance Redress Mechanism Committee is to serve as a bridge between the government and the business community in the State

as well as ensuring that all those who are involved in commercial activities have reliable platform to express their challenges and seek solutions by creating space where complaints are not only heard but resolved with integrity and promptness

“We want to ensure that traders, Whether it is disputes over regulations, licensing, trade barriers, or any other issues affecting commerce, this committee will work tirelessly to ensure there is fair and effective resolutions” , he stated .

While calling on members of the TGRM committee to carry out their responsibilities with empathy, fairness, and fear of God, he stressed the commitment of his administration

in supporting this committee with the resources and guidance needed to ensure its effectiveness.

The Governor also urged members of the committee to carry the trust of every market seller, entrepreneur, and individual who strives to build a business in the state.

Earlier in her welcome address, the State Commissioner for Industries Trade and Cooperatives, Mrs. Omotayo Adeola said the present administration would work assiduously towards building a vibrant, supportive trade environment, where Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the State can thrive and be free from undue challenges.

She urged the Committee members to ensure transparency in their dealings, prioritize the resolution of grievances promptly and foster a harmonious relationship between the government and the business sector for sustainable economic growth.

Responding on behalf of the members of the committee, the Chairman, Mr. Olufemi Obisesan who thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve, pledged to diligently discharge their duties without fear or favour.

Present at the event were the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the State Head of Service, Dr Folakemi Olomojobi, the Director -General, Ekiti State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (EKICCIMA), Mr. Sanya Fabiyi, the President of (EKICCIMA), Alh. Olufemi Hassan, members of the chamber and important stakeholders in the commerce sector in the State.

The 8-Member TGRM Committee has Mr Olufemi Obisesan as Chairman while Messrs Ebenezer Omotayo , Mathew Osundele ,Oluwadamilare , and Tope Omowaye are members

Other members of the committee are Mr Bayo Adekunle of the State Internal Revenue Service Mrs Yetunde Kolawole of the Ministry of Justice and Mr Olanrewaju Borisade from Ekiti State Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Industries.
