King Sunny Ade is set to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award on Sunday, February 16, 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo state.
In a statement issued by Ambassador Yemi Farounbi-led planning committee, KSA will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award during the launch of the late entertainment journalist, Olu Makinde’s biography authored by Tade, his son.
In the same vein, the 3-in-1 event will also witness more honours for the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi (III), late Arisekola Alao- Azeez, late Adeseun Ogundoyin, and late Akanni Aluko – all to be conferred with posthumous awards.
The book, ‘Olu Makinde: Master of His Game’, which will be launched at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, contains details of how a music competition organised in 1977 completely altered the trajectory of King Sunny Ade’s life.
Barrister Gbenga Makinde, secretary of the committee, noted that Dr Badmus Olagoke will be the chief launcher of the book, while Engr (Dr) Dotun Sanusi will serve as the Chairman of the Day.
