Nigeria international,  Paul Onuachu is unhappy at Southampton’s latest defeat in the EPL despite scoring his first home goal at the Saint Mary’s Stadium.

Onuachu, who came on as a substitute, found the back of the net for the Saints  but his joy was overshadowed by the disappointing 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Nigerian described Southampton’s performance as not good enough and has called on his teammates to improve for the club to end the season commendably.

“It’s tough scoring my first goal in front of the home fans and still losing. It’s not good enough—we need to improve as a team and individually,” he told the club’s official website. “We started well in the first 20 minutes, and it’s hard to explain this loss because we felt confident playing at home and believed we could beat Wolves.

“You could see we were the better team, even though we lost. It’s just not good enough.

“For the fans and the team, scoring is great, but losing makes it difficult to enjoy. We needed to win this game, and it’s very disappointing.”

Onuachu has scored three league goals for the Saints on his second stint with the club after his inability to score even a goal on his EPL debut season two years ago before he was farmed to Turkey where he rediscovered his scoring boots with Trabzonspor last season.
