English Premier League outfit, Nottingham Forest are on the verge of offering Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina a new contract, following his impressive displays for the Tricky Trees this season.
The 28-year-old right-back’s current contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and the former Torino man has been the subject of a move away from the City Ground, having courted admirers and potential suitors both in and outside England.
However, the latest development from the two-time European champions suggest that Aina could be continuing his career with manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s side beyond this campaign.
According to the Telegraph UK, Aina is expected to sign a new deal, as an offer had been tabled for a while now. Furthermore, an additional year has already triggered, which will cover the 2025/2026 season.
Aina has been a regular feature for Nottingham Forest this season, having played 35 matches across all competitions. He has scored two goals and provided one assist for the Tricky Trees this campaign.
The 2024 AFCON runner-up only recently returned to the fold, following a brief spell on the sidelines due to a calf injury he suffered. His absence has been felt by the Nuno Espirito Santo’s, as they slipped out of the UEFA Champions League places.
Nottingham Forest are currently 7th on the Premier League standings, with two games left to play. They could still qualify for Europe’s elite club cup competition, but would need to win their remaining matches and hope for a positive outcome elsewhere.
