Team Oyo delivered an impressive performance on Monday, May 26, at the 22nd National Sports Festival, adding to their medal tally with standout achievements across multiple events.
In para-athletics, Adebayo Kokoomo clinched gold in the Men’s T12/13 Long Jump, while Adebisi Abdullahi secured bronze in the same event. The scrabble men’s doubles pair, Awonusi Peter and Onuh Benjamin, earned a silver medal. Rebecca John claimed bronze in the women’s -78kg judo category, and Stephen Dominion also took bronze in women’s artistic gymnastics.
The men’s cricket ODI team, featuring Adewoye Vincent, Akachukwu Chima, Runsewe Sulaimon, Talabi Odunayo, Kingsley Teresa, Ihenwokeleme Alex, Monday Elijah, Olaleye Elijah, Ogunnaike Hammed, Kofoworola Lukman, Chimezie Onwuzulike, and Adebayo Samson, secured a silver medal.
Team Oyo’s overall haul stands at 96 medals: 30 gold, 29 silver, and 37 bronze, solidifying their strong presence at the festival.
