Former Ekiti State governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ayodele Fayose, has predicted a bleak future for the party, warning that it may not even finish among the top three in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Fayose stated that at the rate the PDP was going, the party would manage to come fourth with prayers in the 2027 election.

The outspoken politician attributed the party’s downward trajectory to internal crises, lack of cohesion, defection of key members and failure to evolve a credible strategy that resonates with Nigerians.

“A lot is wrong with our party. Associating with the PDP today is shameful enough; the party is too weak to take a grab of anything lately. With more prayers, the PDP will become fourth in the coming election.

“The APC will come first, Obi will come second, ADC (African Democratic Congress) will come third, and the PDP will come fourth, go and write it down,” Fayose said.

The former governor condemned the way the PDP is being run by the leaders of the party, saying the PDP has been left in a carcass with the defection of key members from the party.

He accused the leadership of the party of undermining him despite his sacrifices and commitment to the development of the party.

“The soul of PDP is gone, the spirit is gone; it is only the body that is remaining. People who matter seem to be out of the party. The people who have defected from the party have left it in a carcass. The PDP has messed up; managing the party has become an issue.

“Today, I’m saying the PDP will come fourth in the next general elections. In most states, they have already compromised; they have eased out so many leaders.

“I have paid my dues in the PDP, and you cannot continue to match a man like me in Ekiti and tell me all will go well. I remain a member of the PDP, and I shall remain a member of the party.

“The moment I refuse to be a member of the PDP, I will return home, I will never be a member of the APC. I will never be a member of the ADC, and I will never be a member of the Labour Party,” Fayose said.
