GWR Attempt: Confusion As Hilda Baci’s Jollof Pot Collapses

A dramatic scene unfolded during Chef Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt to cook the largest pot of jollof rice, as the massive cooking pot unexpectedly collapsed while being lifted for weighing.

The incident happened late at night after a full day of successful cooking. Once the jollof rice was ready, a crane was brought in to raise the gigantic pot onto a scale to determine its weight, a crucial step in validating the record attempt.

However, as the crane began the process, the pot gave way under its own weight, collapsing suddenly and sending shockwaves through the crowd.

Fans who had gathered to cheer Baci on screamed in panic as the spectacle turned into a moment of chaos. The crane operator was immediately instructed to halt the lift to prevent further damage or injury.

A circulating video of the mishap has since gone viral online, though it does not show whether the weighing was eventually completed. This leaves uncertainty around the official submission to the Guinness World Records, as the final measurement is essential to certify the attempt.

The setback marks a tense moment in what had otherwise been a smooth and highly celebrated cookoff. Supporters now await official clarification on whether the record attempt will still be recognised despite the incident.
