The founder of Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation, Arc (Dr.) Hassan Giwa, has called on the government to join forces with teachers as partners in progress to address challenges facing them.
Giwa, in his heartfelt congratulatory message to teachers in Nigeria, Oyo State and Lagelu Local Government, on this year’s World Teachers’ Day, said identifying with teachers will serve as an easy way to pinpoint their problems and proffer solutions to them.
The Asiwaju Adini Musulumi of Ibadanland, in the statement, described teaching as a noble profession which has reshaped and transformed the society to a better one.
He disclosed that the role of teachers in the society is beyond the four corners of the classrooms, emphasizing that they serve as guardian angels and agents of transformation to their students.
Arc Giwa disclosed that teachers deserved to be recognized and celebrated due to their roles in equitable and resilient education systems, driving learning, inclusion and innovations in schools and societies.
The renowned educator charged the government at all levels to join hands with teachers as partners in progress and reflect on the support they need to fully deploy their talents and vocation, and to think the way ahead for the profession.
Giwa said that the move will help the governments to address the challenges such as disruptive environment, lack of resources and unattractive welfare packages facing them to discharge their duties with optimum capacity.
