Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has called on Nigerians to acknowledge the supremacy of God as the ‘King of kings’ for the nation to experience lasting promotion and transformation.

Adeboye made the call on Sunday during the RCCG monthly thanksgiving service themed “King of Kings” at the church’s national headquarters, The Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

He said divine promotion remains the only form of elevation that endures and transcends human limitations.

“When God elevates a person, no obstacle or opposition can stand in the way,” Adeboye said. “If human beings lift you up, their hands will grow weary and bring you down. But when God promotes you, there is no limit because His hands are everlasting.”

The service also doubled as Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary Thanksgiving and had in attendance the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and members of the state executive council, among other dignitaries.

Adeboye led special prayers for the nation, interceding for leaders across all sectors — the executive, legislature, judiciary, and electoral institutions — as well as for citizens.

He described Nigerians as resilient and faithful people who have continued to show hope despite national challenges.

He expressed optimism that genuine recognition of God’s kingship would usher in peace, prosperity, and divine favour for the country.

“When a nation honours God as the exceptional King, He in turn honours that nation,” he added.

In his remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu thanked the church for its prayers and support, pledging his administration’s continued commitment to the welfare of residents.

“This government is committed to doing more than we have done in the past,” the governor said. “As long as I have breath, I will continue to serve and serve well.”

The service featured worship sessions, thanksgiving songs, and intercessory prayers for unity and progress in Nigeria.
