The Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB), on Monday, October 27, 2025, held the technical bids opening ceremony for its 2025 capital projects at the College Auditorium.
The event, organized by the College Tenders Board, was conducted in strict compliance with the Public Procurement Act of 2007.
In attendance were members of the College Management and Procurement Committees, including the Provost, Prof. Jonathan J. Atungwu; Deputy Provost (Administration), Dr. Musiliu O. Adenekan; Deputy Provost (Academic), Dr.(Mrs.) Victoria E. Okpeze; Registrar, Mr. Abimbade S. Abass; Director of Audit, Mr. K. M. Karunwi; and Head of Bursary, Mrs. Theresa Adeoye. Also present were the immediate past Provost, Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Augustus, and other members of the Procurement Planning Committee: Engr. J. A. Adebisi, Dr. O. E. Ayanfeoluwa, Mrs. Abimbola O. Ala, Engr. Dr. T. Ilori and Engr. J. A. Ijadunola.
The event was anchored by the Head of Procurement Unit, Engr. Dr. Oluwaseun Akinyele, who welcomed participants and observers, including the Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers (Ibadan Branch), Engr. Ayokunmi Ojedele; the Executive Director, Life Builders (NGO); and a representative of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Assistant Chief Superintendent Ndukwe Oscar. He noted that out of seventy-eight (78) invited bidders, seventy-one (71) successfully submitted their proposals.
In his opening remarks, the Provost, Prof. Atungwu, appreciated the presence of all bidders and reaffirmed the College’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and fairness in all procurement processes. He emphasized that he had no personal engagement with any of the bidders prior to the exercise and encouraged all participants to view the process as a collective commitment toward institutional growth and integrity.
The bids’ opening exercise included the inspection, sorting, and official opening of submitted tenders, followed by the signing of the bidders’ register.
Seventy-one bids were opened under eight (8) major project lots, namely:
Construction and provision of electricity and solar power systems for College facilities, Construction and furnishing of an ultramodern library, Rehabilitation and furnishing of College halls, offices, classrooms, and laboratories, Construction of an Agricultural Central Administrative Office Complex, Renovation of students’ hostels, Construction and furnishing of Animal Production Laboratories, Construction and furnishing of the Engineering Building Complex, Provision of computers and ICT facilities for College use.
In his closing remarks, the Provost, Prof. Atungwu, expressed appreciation to all members of staff involved in the exercise, particularly the College Management Team, the Procurement Unit, and staff of the Provost’s Office for their dedication and professionalism.
He emphasized that through thorough examination and evaluation, the College would ensure that only the most qualified contractors are selected for the execution of the 2025 capital projects. The Provost also wished all bidders a safe journey back to their various destinations.
The event was concluded with the separation of technical from financial bids, as well as comments from some bidders who commended the College for ensuring a transparent and well-organized process of bids opening, while believing that same due process will be followed in final selection of qualified bidders.
The 2025 Technical Bids Opening marks another significant milestone in FCAIB’s ongoing drive for infrastructural development, transparency, and sustainable institutional growth.
