Paul Onuachu has been voted the Trendyol Super Lig’s Most Valuable Player for October after his impressive performances for Trabzonspor in the month under review.
The Nigerian forward was announced as the winner following fan voting on SüperOnBir, the Turkish league’s official platform that allows supporters to determine weekly, monthly and seasonal honours.
In a statement posted on social media, the league organisers wrote, “The most voted name of October has been revealed! Paul Onuachu became the MVP of the Month with the votes given by fans on SüperOnBir.”
The Monthly MVP award recognises the player who garners the highest number of votes from the Monthly Best Eleven, which is compiled from those who make the Weekly Best Elevens throughout the month.
All votes are collected and verified by the Turkish Football Federation and KONAMI before the winners are made public.
The voting project will run throughout the 2025–26 Super Lig season, culminating in the announcement of the Team and Player of the Season awards.
Onuachu, who scored two goals and provided one assist in three games during October, topped the votes to win the monthly honour ahead of other nominees.
The Month’s Best Eleven also featured compatriot Victor Osimhen, who won the August edition after scoring twice in three matches.
The September award went to Besiktas’s Rafa Silva, making this month’s recognition a return of the accolade to Nigeria.
The 30-year-old has now registered seven goals and one assist in 11 league appearances for Trabzonspor this season, while also winning two Goal of the Month awards for August and September.
After enduring a challenging spell at Southampton, where he netted four goals in 25 Premier League games, Onuachu has rediscovered his prolific form in Turkey.
His resurgence began during his initial six-month loan at Trabzonspor in the 2023/24 season, where he scored 15 goals and provided four assists in 21 league games. The club’s persistence paid off this summer when they secured his permanent transfer.
Across a decade-long career that has taken him from Denmark to Belgium, England and now Turkey, Onuachu has amassed 193 goals and 27 assists in 389 appearances. His last major individual honour came in January 2021 when he won the Belgian Jupiler Pro League Golden Shoe after scoring 33 goals in one season for Genk.
With his current form, many observers believe it is only a matter of time before he earns a recall to the Super Eagles squad for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs later this month.
Nigeria are scheduled to face Gabon on October 18, with the winner set to meet either Cameroon or DR Congo in the next round.
