After failing to attract Senator Ademola Adeleke into its fold to run his re-election into office as governor of Osun State, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has confirmed that its gubernatorial primary for the 2026 election will hold this Sunday.

This signals a key step in the party’s preparations for the forthcoming poll.

The exercise is expected to bring together accredited delegates from across the state as the party progresses with its internal democratic processes.

Addressing journalists at the party’s headquarters, the APGA Acting State Chairman, Wole Adedoyin reiterated the party’s commitment to a transparent and credible primary. He noted that all logistics and procedural arrangements have been concluded, assuring that Sunday’s event will reflect APGA’s tradition of justice, equity, and people-oriented leadership.

The party’s screening committee has certified aspirants eligible for participation, following weeks of consultations and engagements with delegates. The Acting Chairman, Wole Adedoyin emphasized that robust security and monitoring frameworks have been instituted to ensure a peaceful and orderly exercise, allowing delegates to freely express their choice without pressure or interference.

APGA leadership also appealed to all aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves with decorum throughout the process. According to the party, the primary remains an internal affair designed to strengthen unity ahead of the general election, and all participants are expected to exhibit sportsmanship as the party moves toward selecting its standard-bearer.

As political activities intensify across Osun, APGA expressed optimism that its eventual candidate will offer a credible and people-centered option for voters. The party encouraged members, stakeholders, and the media to observe the primary and support a process reflective of the aspirations of Osun citizens for inclusive governance and sustainable progress.
