The Ekiti State Government has declared that the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji has set a new and unmatched benchmark for progressive, people-oriented governance, recording landmark achievements across all critical sectors of the state’s development.
The Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, stated this on Tuesday during a radio programme in Ado-Ekiti, noting that the Oyebanji administration has consistently delivered on its promises and justified the overwhelming confidence reposed in it by the people of Ekiti State.
Olatunbosun said the Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led administration has, within a short period, redefined governance in Ekiti through purposeful leadership, prudent management of resources and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
Stressing that the administration’s unprecedented achievements across key sectors of the economy has led to significant improvements in the living standards of residents, Olatunbosun stated that Governor Oyebanji’s deliberate, strategic and inclusive approach to governance has transformed Ekiti State’s educational, health, agricultural, security and infrastructural landscape, positioning the state on a sustainable path of growth and development.
According to him, the administration has successfully renovated all 203 public secondary schools and over 900 public primary schools across the state, reaffirming the governor’s belief that education remains the bedrock of societal development.
He added that the government has recruited 1,800 teaching and non-teaching personnel, introduced free education from primary to secondary levels in government-owned schools, and significantly increased subventions to tertiary institutions to promote stability, academic excellence and uninterrupted learning.
The commissioner further disclosed that the Oyebanji administration has cleared long-standing pension arrears owed to retirees, some dating back to 2012, describing the move as a bold demonstration of the governor’s resolve to restore dignity, respect and financial security to senior citizens who had served the state meritoriously.
In the health sector, Olatunbosun said the administration has embarked on extensive renovation of all tiers of the healthcare centres across the State, while ensuring free access to essential healthcare services such as malaria treatment, antenatal care and routine immunisation for residents.
He noted that health facilities have also been equipped with modern medical equipment, a development that has improved service delivery, reduced mortality rates and strengthened public confidence in the healthcare system.
On security, the commissioner said Governor Oyebanji’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property has earned Ekiti State national recognition and merit awards. He explained that the administration has strengthened grassroots security through the deployment of Agro Marshals, the Amotekun Corps and Peace Corps to complement conventional security agencies.
Olatunbosun added that the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps operating in the state have been equipped with technology-driven tools to enhance intelligence gathering and operational effectiveness.
In agriculture, he said the government has empowered over 7,000 youths with financial support, farm inputs, seedlings and access to farmland, as part of a deliberate strategy to drive food security, create jobs and reposition agriculture as a viable economic pathway for young people.
He also revealed that the administration has constructed secure farm dormitories across the state to promote all-year farming and protect farmers from security threats.
On infrastructure and power, Olatunbosun said electricity supply has been extended to more than 50 towns and villages, with transformers distributed and Independent Power Plants (IPPs) installed in hospitals and critical public institutions to guarantee uninterrupted service delivery.
The commissioner stressed that the achievements of the Oyebanji administration are clear evidence of purposeful leadership and responsive governance, urging residents of Ekiti State to continue supporting the government in order to consolidate the gains and sustain the current development momentum.
