The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, and the lawmaker representing Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, Lukman Mudashiru, have resolved their differences days after the monarch barred him from the palace.
It had earlier been reported that the monarch, in a statement posted on his Facebook page last Friday, accused the lawmaker of neglecting traditional institutions in Iwo and subsequently barred him from entering the palace.
The monarch had said that by virtue of his position, he deserved a stewardship account from the lawmaker, which he claimed had not been provided.
Mudashiru had earlier said the differences would be resolved amicably without the involvement of third parties.
However, in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Monday, the lawmaker said the misunderstanding had been resolved following a meeting held at the palace.
He said the meeting was facilitated by the President of the Iwo Board of Trustees, Prof. Lai Olurode.
The statement read, “In the spirit of communal development, Iwo Board of Trustees (IBOT) President, Professor Olurode, facilitated a meeting between Hon. Mudashiru and the revered monarch in his glamorous, beautiful palace hall.
“During the fruitful discussion, Oba Akanbi commended the lawmaker, stating that he had been following some of his federal-funded programmes, including multimillion-naira college and university scholarships for indigent students, infrastructure development at the Federal College of Education in Iwo, road constructions, streetlight installations, purchase of a vehicle for the Office of the Chief Imam of Iwoland.
“However, Oluwo mentioned that he heard some people had instigated the lawmaker against him and that was why he decided to invoke the ban.”
Mudashiru, however, denied being influenced against the monarch.
