A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Oluwafemi Adebayo Fowokanmi, has declared his intention to contest the Senate seat to represent the Oyo South Senatorial District.
The lawmaker disclosed his ambition after meeting with critical stakeholders and some members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday.
Hon. Fowokanmi, who represents Ibadan South West State Constituency 2, said his decision to contest the Oyo South Senatorial seat was born out of a vision to advocate for policies and laws that benefit and make a broader impact on the lives of common people in the senatorial district.
The second-term lawmaker assured that he would develop and support laws addressing key issues like infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic development in Oyo South.
Hon. Fowokanmi, popularly called “Betterlife,” disclosed that it is time to explore the experiences he has gained in the Oyo State House of Assembly, particularly in conducting oversight functions to ensure ministries, agencies, and government parastatals work for the people.
The lawmaker noted that he would ensure continuous engagement with party stakeholders, leadership, members, supporters, and electorates on the progress of the mandate given to him, for the sake of accountability, transparency, and posterity.
