Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has said he always looks to God for divine guidance in the leadership of the state towards achieving peace and economic prosperity.

Oyebanji said his vision to make Ekiti a land of prosperity had been largely pursued through adherence to the principles of honesty and transparency, while seeking God’s guidance to ensure that his administration did not fail or falter.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, spoke on Friday at the August edition of the Evening of Praise held at the Government House Grounds, Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Oyebanji told the congregants that his administration, which began in 2022, was driven by a vision to make the state a land of prosperity through its six-point agenda.

He expressed gratitude to God that he had not disappointed in his leadership or betrayed the confidence reposed in him in any area of the state’s economic development.

He said, “The Evening of Praise was not just conceptualised as a gathering for funfair, but to seek divine direction that can save the people from economic doldrums, poverty and lift Ekiti to the pedestal of prosperity and greatness I had dreamt for the state.”

Oyebanji added that while human effort and intelligence were required to drive a vision, God’s direction remained a major catalyst for achieving the expected success.

“We thank God that this programme has been yielding positive results on the economic situation of the state and thus bringing peace to our people. Ekiti has been able to make it this far owing to God’s direction.

“I commend our cabinet members for sharing this vision with us that God should be given a pride of place in our leadership. I charge other citizens who live within Ado Ekiti and its environs to kindly attend subsequent editions.

“Our vision is to make this state great. We put in our little efforts and we are achieving greatness because God is on our side and he knows that we accord Him the respect that He deserves,” he added.

The governor promised to continue working harder and sacrificially to make Ekiti greater, more peaceful and economically buoyant than he met it, through partnerships with like-minded people and by maintaining unshakeable faith in the power of God as the most potent guide for leadership.

Present at the event were commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries, executive secretaries, clerics and other top government functionaries.
