Nigeria international, Terem Moffi said he was ‘very proud’ after opening his Hamburger SV account, heading home an 83rd -minute equalizer off the bench on Saturday to spark a 3-2 comeback win away at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
“I’m happy that I was able to help the team with my goal,” Moffi said after the match at the PreZero Arena.
Introduced in the 76th minute with Hamburg trailing 2-1, the Nigerian needed only seven minutes to make his mark. Unmarked inside the box, he met a precise cross from Miro Muheim with a clinical header, silencing the home crowd and levelling the game. BuyMaps
Moffi was quick to credit his teammate. “Miro’s cross was absolutely superb. All I had to do was get myself into position,” he said.
The goal came against a Hoffenheim side reduced to ten men after Bernardo’s 65th -minute red card, and Moffi said it convinced him Hamburg could still win. “After that, I had the feeling that we still had a chance to win the game. And we managed to do it in the final minute.”
Muheim, who provided the assist, scored the winner in the 94th minute to complete the turnaround.
Yussuf Poulsen had put Hamburg ahead in the 12th minute. A Sebastiaan Bornauw own goal on the stroke of halftime brought Hoffenheim level, and Bambasé Conté made it 2-1 in the 53rd minute before Moffi and Muheim struck late.
Moffi also thanked the travelling fans. “It’s an extraordinary feeling to see how many HSV fans made the journey here to watch the game. Incredible! We’re grateful to every single person who came to support us.”
He earned a 7.1 rating on FotMob for his goal-scoring cameo.
