Integrated Primary Health Care Service Delivery: EKSG Engages LG Chairmen, Traditional&Religious Leaders

The Ekiti State Government has organized a one-day engagement meeting with Local Government Chairmen, traditional and religious leaders as part of concerted efforts to foster strong collaboration that will promote health-seeking behaviours among the grassroots populace.

Addressing the Stakeholders at the event in Ado-Ekiti, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani said that the meeting was also designed to update community leaders, key players, and influencers at the grassroots level on the current state of primary health care services and seek further collaboration with with them .

Dr Filani disclosed that all relevant health indicators in the State have shown significant improvement in service utilization and health outcomes.

He appreciated the stakeholders for their unwavering support and urged them to continue mobilizing and engaging residents on health interventions at the grassroots level to sustain the improving health facility utilization and the successes recorded in the health sector.

In his presentation, the State Coordinator of the World Health Organization (WHO), Pharm. Akeem Busari disclosed that Ekiti State was one of the states that scored 100% in the recently conducted National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs).

Pharm. Busari commended the Ekiti state government for its numerous interventions in the health sector which he noted has yielded lots of positive results in the state.

The State Coordinator of WHO said that the stakeholders’ engagement was an avenue to identify and collectively address community-related challenges affecting PHC utilisation including immunization, maternal and child health as well as disease surveillance.

Earlier in their remarks Onisin of Isinbode Ekiti, HRM Oba Adewole Adesoji, Chairman and Executive Secretary of the State Primary HealthCare Development Agency, Dr Funke Ogunbunmi and Dr Rasheed Adepoju respectively described meeting as being timely as they noted it would build consensus and shared commitment towards achieving Universal Health Coverage through effective grassroot engagement.

While appreciating the stakeholders for their commitment to quality healthcare services, they solicited their continued support to ensure the delivery of best care in their various facilities and communities.
