The Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan (FCAIB) has reaffirmed its status as a leading agricultural institution in Nigeria following a courtesy visit by the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, to the centenarian College.
The visit underscored the longstanding relationship between the two foremost agricultural institutions and created an avenue to deepen collaboration in academic development, research advancement, and institutional capacity building.
Welcoming the Vice-Chancellor, the Provost of FCAIB, Prof. Jonathan J. Atungwu, described the visit as both unexpected and highly honourable. He expressed appreciation for the gesture and reaffirmed the College’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with FUNAAB.
In his remarks, Prof. Kehinde commended FCAIB for the remarkable progress recorded since his last visit, citing noticeable improvements in infrastructure, research coordination, and overall institutional development. He also praised the Provost’s leadership and innovative drive, particularly in fostering research collaborations and promoting organic agriculture initiatives.
The Vice-Chancellor further disclosed plans to expand partnership efforts between the two institutions through collaborative research projects, access to major grants, skill acquisition programmes, and entrepreneurial training. According to him, these initiatives are aimed at positioning FCAIB as a hub for agricultural innovation and leadership in Africa.
During the visit, Prof. Kehinde interacted with students enrolled in FUNAAB-affiliated programmes, especially those in the Animal Production and Health programme. The engagement provided mentorship opportunities and reinforced institutional ties.
The Class Representative, Lamidi Basit Odunayo and the Assistant Class Representative, Adewale Eniola, expressed appreciation for the interaction, highlighting the value of mentorship and institutional collaboration in shaping the next generation of agricultural professionals.
Present at the event was Dr. Elizabeth Augustus, former Provost of the College and current Director of External Degree Programmes (Outreach Centres and Linkages), whose attendance reflected continuity in leadership and sustained institutional growth.
The visit further highlights FCAIB’s expanding influence in agricultural education and research, strengthening its dynamic role in high-impact research and national development.
