The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Tosin Alabi, has assured to promote youth agenda if he secures the party ticket and wins at the 2027 general election.

Alabi, a lawyer and data analyst, gave the assurance during a media engagement with students and youths in the constituency, held at Olunloyo Park, Alakia, Ibadan.

In his address at the event, he highlighted the importance of youths’ active participation in governance and civic processes, stressing the urgency of integrating young people into leadership structures for sustainable development.

The fast-rising political figure in Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency commended the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for the achievements of his administration over the years, which he said have endeared him to the people of the state.

The Egbeda/Ona-Ara House of Representatives aspirant praised the governor’s leadership, describing it as pragmatic and impactful. “Governor Seyi Makinde has shown that governance can be people-centred and result-driven. His administration has made visible strides in infrastructure and public service delivery, and this deserves commendation.

Speaking about youth involvement in politics, Alabi said, “Youth inclusion is not optional; it is essential for sustainable development.

“We must move beyond symbolic involvement and ensure young people are part of the decision-making process.

“The energy, creativity, and innovation that young people bring to governance cannot be ignored. My commitment is to create platforms where their voices are not only heard but reflected in policies and actions,” he said.

He also attributed the grassroots development within Ona-Ara to the contributions of Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, which he said have had tangible effects on the lives of residents. Jubril Dotun Sanusi has demonstrated what it means to give back to the community. His efforts in Ona-Ara are visible and impactful, and they continue to inspire many of us”, Alabi added.

Addressing his connection to the constituency, Alabi underscored his roots in both Ona-Ara and Egbeda local government areas. “My biological mother is from Badeku in Ona-Ara, while my father is from Egbeda. This gives me a deep, personal connection to both communities.

Therefore, I am eminently qualified to represent the interests of the two local governments. I understand the challenges, the aspirations, and the unique needs of our people because they are my people.”

Reinforcing his vision for representation, Alabi noted, “Representation must go beyond occupying an office; it must reflect genuine understanding and responsiveness to the people’s needs. That is the kind of leadership I stand for.”

He encouraged young people to remain actively engaged in civic affairs, saying, “The future belongs to you, but you must be ready to take responsibility for it. Stay informed, stay involved, and never underestimate your power to effect change.”

The engagement ended with a renewed call for sustained dialogue between leaders and the youth, as participants expressed optimism about greater inclusion in governance and decision-making processes.
