Oyo APC Stakeholders Urge Peaceful Conduct, Warn Against Disruption Of Central Progressive Congress

Concerned progressives and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have called on party members, security agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure that today’s Central Progressive Congress is conducted peacefully, orderly, and in accordance with democratic principles.

In a statement issued by the Central Progressive Conference Committee, the stakeholders said the gathering was convened to provide members with an opportunity to deliberate on issues concerning the party and discuss the way forward for the APC in Oyo State.

The group said it had received reports alleging that some individuals were planning to disrupt the meeting, stressing that such concerns should be addressed through lawful and peaceful means rather than confrontation.

According to the stakeholders, every party member should be allowed to participate in legitimate political activities without intimidation, harassment, or violence.

“We wish to make it clear that our meeting is peaceful and lawful. We are committed to conducting ourselves responsibly and in a manner that respects the rights and safety of all participants,” the statement said.

The group also appealed to the relevant security agencies to maintain adequate security around the venue and ensure that the gathering is protected against any act capable of disrupting public peace.

It urged security personnel to act professionally and impartially, while calling on all participants to cooperate with lawful security directives throughout the meeting.

The stakeholders further emphasised that political differences should be resolved through dialogue, consultation, and democratic engagement, rather than through threats, intimidation, or physical confrontation.

They urged members attending the gathering to remain calm and law-abiding, cautioning participants against responding to provocation or engaging in any conduct that could undermine the peaceful nature of the meeting.

“Do not provoke anyone, and do not allow anyone to provoke you into abandoning your rights or compromising the peace of the state,” the statement added.

The group maintained that the APC, as a political organisation, should provide room for diverse opinions and constructive engagement among its members, particularly at a time when internal dialogue is necessary to strengthen party cohesion.

It therefore called on all stakeholders to place the interests of the party and the people of Oyo State above individual differences, urging them to embrace dialogue and peaceful participation.

The Central Progressive Conference Committee reaffirmed its commitment to peace, justice, democratic participation, and progress, while expressing confidence that the meeting would proceed in an orderly and peaceful atmosphere.
