Afrobeats star, Davido joined Aliko Dangote in New York’s Times Square as the billionaire’s refinery public offering took centre stage on a Nasdaq billboard.
The billboard displayed the message: “Made in Nigeria. Built for the World.”
In a video Davido shared, both men pointed to the display and waved to a small crowd that had gathered.
The outing is tied to the ongoing Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, which opened on September 14 and will close on October 13, 2026.
The offer is for 4.1 billion shares at N525 per share, with a minimum entry of 10 shares (N5,250).
It is open to Nigerian and eligible African retail and institutional investors and could raise about N2.15 trillion if fully subscribed.
Speaking in the clip, Dangote explained why the public listing matters.
“It is very important, David, because that’s the only way to spread prosperity and wealth throughout Africa,” he said.
“This is not going to be the first and the last. We will continue to do even our fertiliser. By the time we finish listing, every single African will own part of our businesses.”
The Lekki-based refinery, one of Nigeria’s largest industrial projects, refines crude into petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and LPG.
Davido’s appearance with Dangote in New York, where Nigerian figures have gathered for UNGA-related events, has given the IPO major visibility beyond the capital market.
