Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has unveiled its Football Academy with 170 kids enrolled into Under-13, Under-15 and Under17 categories at an event held on Saturday inside the main bowl of Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba Ibadan.

The chairman of the traditional club-side, Alhaji Gbolagade Busari in his speech thanked parents for believing in Shooting Stars’ institution and demonstrating their dreams of having their wards becoming football stars by coming out in-large numbers to register their kids in the academy.

He, however, urged the parents to allow the kids to imbibe football culture by monitoring their wards to be prompt with their training programmes, while assuring them of safety and proper handling of their wards by the cream of experienced youthful coaches led by Edith Agoye, and the opportunity to promote the exceptional ones into the main team.

The Commissioner for Youths and Sports in the State, Barrister Abayomi Oke in his speech at the gathering said the program is self funding and does not have any financial input of the government, but the idea of the management of the club.

“The good idea about this academy is that it would allow us to have accurate personal data of all the kids which we believe would forestall the persistent age-cheating saga that is always associated with football.

“I’m also happy to announce that about five private schools in the State, which include ICAST, Asegun Group of Schools and Brightville Schools have partnered with us to be giving educational scholarship to the exceptional players of the academy”, Oke noted.

Among legends of the club that were invited to grace the event were Dr. Felix Owolabi, Mutiu Adepoju, Coach Niyi Akande and Dr. Biodun Salami of the University of Ibadan.
