The City Boy Movement in Oyo State has reaffirmed its commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that it will not associate with groups that support opposition candidates while claiming allegiance to the ruling party.
The movement’s State Director, Hon. Olufemi Onireti, stated this in a statement issued on Monday, stressing that its loyalty extends to all APC candidates contesting presidential, governorship and other elective positions.
“We are unequivocally loyal to the APC and all its candidates. Our loyalty is not selective, and we will not support one candidate while abandoning another. We stand firmly with the party at the presidential, governorship and other elective levels,” Onireti said.
He expressed concern over the activities of political groups that identify with the APC but openly promote candidates of other parties, describing such conduct as inconsistent with genuine party loyalty.
According to him, political allegiance should not be determined by personal interests or political calculations, warning that supporting opposition candidates while claiming to represent the APC raises questions about the sincerity of such groups.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Oyo City Boy Movement stands firmly with the APC and all its candidates. We will not be part of any arrangement that undermines the party’s interests or promotes candidates from opposing political parties while claiming to represent the APC,” he added.
Meanwhile, Onireti expressed appreciation to participants at the movement’s inaugural event held last week, particularly commending the Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, and the party’s State Women Leader, Dr. Mrs. Felicia Adekemi Opatunde, for their presence and support.
He also thanked executives and members of the movement across the state’s various zones for their dedication to the success of the event.
The movement urged APC stakeholders and members of the public to distinguish between groups genuinely committed to the party and those with divided allegiance. It also called on APC-affiliated groups to uphold consistency, discipline and unity in their political activities.
