In a swift demonstration of commitment to grassroots development, Hon. Olayinka Omikunle, the lawmaker representing Ibadan South-East Constituency II in the Oyo State House of Assembly, has mobilised his team to commence the drilling of a borehole in the Osungbade area of Ward 11, barely 24 hours after promising to provide the community with access to potable water.

The intervention is expected to ease the difficulties faced by residents in accessing clean and safe water, following concerns raised about the community’s water challenges.

The development followed a stakeholders’ meeting of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) held on Monday, where the attention of the lawmaker was drawn to the hardship residents of Osungbade had been experiencing in their efforts to obtain potable water for domestic use.

Responding to the concerns, Omikunle, in what was described as his usual commitment to the welfare of his constituents, pledged to provide a borehole for the community. True to his promise, the lawmaker swiftly mobilised his team to begin the drilling process, bringing the proposed intervention closer to reality.

Speaking on the initiative, Omikunle reiterated his commitment to improving the living conditions of residents across his constituency, stressing that delivering the dividends of democracy remains a major priority of his representation.

“As your representative, I will continue to contribute to the well-being of my people and work tirelessly towards the growth and development of our great constituency. My commitment is to ensure that the people feel the impact of good representation through projects and initiatives that address their everyday needs,” the lawmaker said.

The Osungbade project adds to the borehole projects attributed to the lawmaker, bringing the reported total to 10 boreholes constructed across his constituency. The intervention further underscores his focus on addressing essential community needs through the provision of basic infrastructure.

Access to clean water remains a critical public health and development concern in many communities, making the provision of functional water facilities an important step towards improving sanitation, promoting healthy living, and reducing the burden on households that struggle to obtain safe water.

Residents of Osungbade are expected to benefit from the project upon its completion and commissioning.

Omikunle also reaffirmed his determination to continue providing effective representation at the Oyo State House of Assembly while pursuing initiatives that promote development and improve the quality of life of his constituents.

He maintained that his administration of constituency responsibilities would remain focused on the welfare of the people, adding that he would continue to identify community needs and work towards providing practical solutions.

The swift commencement of the Osungbade borehole project, less than a day after the promise was made, highlights the importance of responsive leadership and sustained engagement between elected representatives and the communities they serve.
