Dr Kayode Fayemi, the Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), has urged the Nigerian Police to fish out the killers of Olajide Sowore, a student of Igbinedion University and brother of activist journalist, Omoyele Sowore, who was killed on Saturday along Lagos-Benin Expressway.
Police and media reports said the younger Sowore was killed by suspected kidnappers who also abducted five others during the attack.
Governor Fayemi in a statement on Monday described the incidence as “unfortunate and saddening” and urged the police authorities to fish out the killers and rescue the abducted five.
“The death of the younger Sowore and indeed several other killings of innocent citizens is a source of concern to me. It is time the security agencies, with the support of the citizens, put an end to this unnecessary wastage of precious lives.
“My sincere condolences to the Sowore family, especially the brother of the deceased, Omoyele Sowore.”
The Governor urged the leadership of security agencies in the country to step up their efforts at putting an end to insecurity across the states, while urging the citizens to come up with relevant information on presence/activities of agents of violence in their localities.
