The Oyo State House of Assembly has commended the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for the resuscitation and restoration of 100 percent subvention to all tertiary institutions in the state.
The House, under the Speakership of Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, gave the commendation after adopting the recommendations of the House Committee on Education, Tertiary Institutions, Science and Technology presented before it at the plenary on Tuesday.
The report was presented by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi, who is representing Ibadan South West state constituency 2 at the state Assembly.
In the recommendations on the report, the Committee urged the state governor to consider the confirmation of the appointment of some principal officers of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, College of Education, Lanlate and Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa into substantive positions for effective running of academic system.
It also recommended that all the state-owned tertiary institutions should be mandated to establish entrepreneurship programme and vocational training centers to train the students in line with the requirements of National University Commission (NUC) and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
While appreciating Governor Seyi Makinde for the monthly payment of #66m wage bill and accreditation fees for courses at College of Education, Lanlate, the Committee urged the governor to constitute the Governing Council of the First Technical University, Ibadan for the administrative convenience and achieving more technological development.
“The Governing Councils and managements of all the state-owned tertiary institutions in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology should commence process leading to the recruitment of academic staff to fill the personnel gaps in meeting the regulatory bodies requirements for accreditation of courses.
The Committee praised the governor for putting in place the standard infrastructure with a master plan at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), College of Agricultural Science and Natural Resources, Iseyin.
Hon. Fowokanmi disclosed that the oversight function to all the state-owned tertiary institutions was pursuant to the directive of House on August 22, 2024 to the Committee to know the state of activities at the various institutions.

Others are The First Technical University, Ibadan, College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora and College of Education, Lanlate.
