The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Mudasiru Obasa has expressed support for the Association of Political Consultants-Africa as they prepare for their forthcoming conference.

Obasa, while receiving officials of the APCA organizing committee in his office in Lagos, assured the association that the Lagos Assembly would support the conference as much as it could.

The three-man committee that visited Obasa were the Protem Chairman, APCA, Kehinde Bamigbetan; Chairman, Local Organizing Committee and Secretary of the Nigerian chapter, Semiu Okanlawon; and Gani Kola Balogun.

Bamigbetan, who explained the rationale behind the birth of the association in Africa and Nigeria, said the first conference of the association took place in Cape Town, South Africa in January 2016.

Bamigbetan said it was at the conference in South Africa that it was resolved that Nigeria should host the next and second continental conference.

“We have received the blessings of the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo who is to declare the conference open. We have the backing of the Lagos State Governor who is to declare it close and even showcase the beauty of Lagos. We also have the backing of the Osun state Government,” Bamigbetan told Obasa

Responding, the Lagos Speaker expressed joy that professionals are coming up to show the way in political consultancy, adding that this would help to shape the politics of the country as well as aid development.

He said: “I am happy to see you and the efforts you have made so far in this direction. This is good for our democracy. Once our democracy is good, our development as a country would be faster. I think this would ensure that politicians now begin to seek the professional advice of political consultants who are best placed to chart the ways for political ambitions and development of our country.”
