Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly  has been honored with the Best Legislator Award in the State for 2017.
Presenting the award to the Speaker, the Publisher of Hotnews Magazine, Mr David Adedapo said the media organization did a thorough scrutiny of the Adekunbi’s activities in the last six and half years as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and found out that he had consistently promoted harmonious relationships amongst his colleague-lawmakers as well as his commitment towards building mutual interdependence among the three arms which had led to the unprecedented development being witnessed in the State.
Adedapo noted that development could only be achieved in an atmosphere devoid of conflict and rancor, while commending the entire House of Assembly members for their resolve      to always put the interest of the Sate first in all their activities.
Receiving the award, Adekunbi in company of the Minority Leader, Wale Alausa, Honourables Bowale Solaja, Jemili Akingbade and Julianah Akintayo,
thanked the media organization for founding him worthy of the honour, which dedicated to his colleague-lawmakers.
The Speaker noted that the successes recorded could not have been possible if not for their support at ensuring that the House put in place people-oriented legislations for the overall development of the State.
He seized the occasion to assure that the Senator Ibikunle Amosun was committed to consolidating on the existing democratic gains by delivering more democratic dividends to the people.
In another development, the State House of Assembly has called on the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to immediately find a lasting solution to the epileptic power supply being experienced presently in some parts of the State.
The Speaker made the call while responding to the submission of the Minority Leader, Olawale Alausa who complained of the ineffectiveness of the Company at providing power supply to the Ijebu Ode community which according to him had been in blackout in the last few months.
He appealed to the power distribution company to evolve more operational measures for improved services to the citizenry.
Corroborating Alausa’s view, the Deputy Speaker Olakunle Oluomo stressed the need for IBEDC as a privatized company to be proactive in the discharge of its duty, adding that effective power supply to end-users was essential to the socio-economic development of the State.
