PDP Vs APC: Urgent Need For Caution To Be Applied

0

There is definitely an urgent need for caution to be applied as the ongoing exchange of hot words between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continues.

Nigerians, being politically sophisticated are not unaware of the reason why the ding-dong exchanges are being staged by the two leading political parties.

However, as the race towards the 2019 general election hots up, the two parties must learn to apply moderation and decorum in order to protect the country’s hard earned democracy.

Some observers have said the much publicized ‘apology’ tendered by the Uche Secondus-led PDP was in bad faith, others said it was a perfect ‘script’ needed by the party to regain relevance.

APC on the other hand through the Information and Culture Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed suddenly came up with a list of six top PDP top-shots and accused them of being ‘looters of Nigeria’s treasury’.

The announcement was premised on the fact that they had cases in different courts where they are defending charges relating to corrupt practices.

PDP, through one of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s spokesmen, Reno Omokri also came up with a list containing names of chieftains of APC who also have cases in courts.

However, as we enunciated earlier, Nigerians know that the two parties are almost one and the same. It is therefore, unnecessary for them to engage in their on-going war.

All the things Nigerians need presently are not being provided. This is the simple truth. These needs have not been provided since 1999. So, what is the essence of the bickering?

Come 2019, Nigerians will once again have the opportunity of taking their destinies in their hands and deciding what they want.

The ongoing war of words between PDP and APC must end. Nigerians do not need this. Not at this time when the North East of the country is on fire, and the South East is being ruled by kidnappers.

President Muhammadu Buhari must, at the same time keep the focus and not allow himself to be distracted. There is still so much he has to offer in terms of quality governance.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
